Low Progesterone

Progesterone is a sex hormone that supports menstruation and pregnancy in women. Low progesterone is a normal part of aging, but can cause problems for childbearing-age women. Low levels of progesterone cause PMS, irregular periods, spotting, vaginal dryness, breast tenderness, low blood sugar, mood changes, headaches, and trouble conceiving and maintaining pregnancy. It can be caused by high estrogen, chronic stress, thyroid problems, poor diet, obesity and PCOS.
